Edward Parrish arrived in the American Colonies in 1655. He transported by ship to Kent Island, Maryland as an indentured servant for William Chaplain. Edward indenture was sold to William Piper, then Richard Gott and finally to Richard's son-in-law Alexander Gordon. Edward completed his service on November 26, 1662 and began to buy land. He married Clara (Judwyn?) and moved to the Shady Side area of Anne Arundel County. From the early 1660's until his death, Edward acquired several large pieces of land including Parrish's Park, Parrish's Chance, Papa Ridge, Clara's Choice and Parrish's Range. Edward supposedly drowned in the Chesapeake on April 17, 1680. He left behind a wife and six to eight children. He was buried near Parrish's Chance. That burial ground has been destroyed.
